Kansas State Council of SHRM
Representing over 2,200 individual members, the Kansas State Council of SHRM (KS SHRM) is the state affiliate for the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). Founded in 1948, SHRM is the world’s largest association devoted to human resource management. The Society has more than 300,000 members and is the global voice of the profession.
KS SHRM is a non-profit, volunteer-led organization whose primary objective is to support the mission and initiatives of SHRM through education. We coordinate professional development efforts, and serve as the conduit for communication among SHRM, chapters, and at-large members.
The state of Kansas has 12 SHRM affiliated chapters and those chapter presidents sit on the Council. In addition, because of the size of Kansas, the state is divided into four geographic districts with district directors that provide support to the chapters in their region. A director, executive committee and association management professional manage the daily operation of the Council.
There are also several core leadership directors that represent the key areas of focus either for the HR profession or within the association. Some of those areas include certification, diversity, governmental affairs, membership, professional development, technology, and workforce readiness.
