The Kansas State Council of SHRM, Inc. (KSSHRM), the Kansas state affiliate of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), is a non-profit, volunteer-led organization dedicated to supporting SHRM’s mission and initiatives. Our focus is on education, coordinating professional development efforts, and serving as a vital communication link among SHRM, chapters, and at-large members. With a long and proud history, we provide HR professionals with essential tools and resources to excel in their daily roles and advance the HR profession.

Affiliated Chapters

There are 11 Kansas SHRM affiliated chapters whose chapter presidents sit on the Council. The state is divided into four geographic districts with district directors who provide support to the chapters in their region.

Diversity Series

The KS SHRM Diversity Series is a series of complimentary educational sessions that culminate in a keynote diversity speaker at our Annual Conference in September.

Employment Law & Employee Benefits Conference

The ELEB Conference offers two days of in-depth updates on employment law and benefits, with an optional HR Day on the Hill at the Kansas Statehouse.

This conference provides insights into the legislative process shaping HR law in Kansas, making it a must-attend event for HR professionals.

Leadership Academy

This training program is designed exclusively for volunteer leaders, including Kansas Chapter Board and Committee Members, as well as Kansas SHRM State Council and Committee Members.

Tailored to prepare participants for their roles in the upcoming year, this academy combines Leadership Development with Kansas SHRM Volunteer Leader Training to equip attendees with the skills and knowledge necessary.

This conference is generally held in December. The 2025 date will be announce in the fall.

KS SHRM’s Human Resources Registered Apprenticeship Program (HR RAP)

This program is offered through the SHRM Foundation to help emerging HR professionals. While apprenticeship is a centuries old, tried-and-true way to learn a trade, it’s a relatively new way for business and management professionals to earn the credentials they need to launch their career.
