This program is offered through the KS SHRM to help emerging HR professionals. While apprenticeship is a centuries old, tried-and-true way to learn a trade, it’s a relatively new way for business and management professionals to earn the credentials they need to launch their career.
If you are an employer or an organization who would like more information about KS SHRM’s HR RAP program or would like to begin the registration process.
“Bringing an HR apprentice into our department has been one of the most impactful decisions we’ve made. Not only does it allow us to invest in the next generation of HR professionals, but it also brings fresh energy, curiosity, and a willingness to learn that reinvigorates the whole team.
The structured learning path ensures they’re gaining relevant skills while also providing additional support. It’s a win-win. We develop talent aligned with our culture and values, and in return, we gain a team member who is growing in capability every week.
Recommended strengthen your pipeline, expand your team’s capacity, and make a real impact in workforce development.”
Kansas SHRM is excited to welcome Michelle Ruder as the new Human Resources Registered Apprenticeship Program (HR RAP) Coordinator, a key role in advancing the state’s HR workforce pipeline. With more than 25 years of experience in workforce development, coaching, and apprenticeship management, Michelle brings proven expertise in guiding individuals and organizations toward career success.
In partnership with the Kansas Department of Commerce Office of Registered Apprenticeship and the SHRM Foundation, HR RAP connects aspiring HR professionals with structured career pathways that combine education, mentorship, and hands-on experience. As Kansas SHRM evolves into the state’s official apprenticeship intermediary, the organization will expand partnerships, streamline employer participation, and strengthen its impact across Kansas.
Michelle will serve as the primary contact for apprentices and employer partners, ensuring each participant is supported, connected, and equipped to thrive.
